Results NSZK I Groningen

Last weekend the first NSZK of the 2021/2022 season took place! After a 1,5 year hiatus, student swimming gathered in Groningen to race once again. De overall vibe of the weekend was amazing and the student swim associations were excited to race again. G.S.Z.V Golfbreker organised the great edition of the NSZK in sportcomplex Heerenveen. Unlike previous years, the party erupted on Friday night. This resulted in a couple of hungover faces at the pool side the next day. But after the first dive in the pool, everyone was fresh and fruity to start the race.

In total 410 participent gathered to the far north of the country. Three Stichting NSZ records have been broken: the women’s 100 freestyle, the men’s 200 meter breaststroke, and the women’s 4×100 meter free style. Silke Huisman swam the new record of 56.87 seconds for A.S.Z.V. Spons during the 100 freestyle. The new record for the 200 breaststroke was swum by Koen Koster of Tiburón (2:16.34 seconds). The ladies of A.S.Z.V. SPONS set the new record for the 4×100 freestyle at 3:54.37 (Tamara Grove, Myrna Duijven, Silke Huisman, and Irene Turfer).

The first round of the NSZKs was a neck and neck race but is was eventually won by A.S.Z.V. SPONS with 1084.64 points, closely followed by G.S.Z.V. Golfbreker with 1093.83 points. M.S.Z.V. Tiburón came in third with 1171.77 points.

NSZKs can not take place without the help of our officials, referees, and volunteers.  The announcers during the meet made sure that these people received the applause they deserved. We would like to thank them again for their time and we would like to thank the Golfbreker for the amazing organisation!

We are looking forward to seeing everyone again during the second round of the NSZKs on december 11th in Leiden.
