Newsletter #2: December, January & February

Dear dear people,

First of all, my sincere apologies! How could it possibly happen that this 2nd newsletter is only being sent out now? To be completely honest, it’s quite a long story—hopefully you have the time for it:

It all started on an ordinary day in December. Everyone woke up peacefully without any idea what was on the agenda. Let’s zoom in on Eindhoven (the craziest one), because something special happened there. Out of nowhere, thousands of students suddenly started pouring into the city by train, all the public transport bikes were gone, and there was a line for the bus. You guessed it: NSZK II was on the schedule. Of course I was there myself as well, after first winning a match in Breda. With a tight schedule I managed to arrive at the party on time, where it was clear that quite a few drinks had already gone down. As you may know, I’m not exactly opposed to a party, so the atmosphere only got better. Unfortunately, there was one thing I had overlooked: the next day I had kept free to write a newsletter. When I woke up rather crispy, and still had to travel back to Delft, the whole concept of a “newsletter” slipped my mind for a moment. Luckily, the NSZK + party weekend was absolutely worth it—thank you Nayade!

Flash forward: January 3rd, once again a normal Saturday. Or so it seemed!!! Suddenly Delft was packed with students heading to the WWT. I myself got carried along in the gezelligheid—at the pool, at the party, and perhaps after the party as well. Once again I wasn’t paying attention, and January 4th passed without writing a newsletter.

No worries! January 31st brought a new chance. NSWK II in Tilburg was on the agenda. Everyone on their way, and what do I do? I get on the wrong bus :/ My bus kept going much longer and suddenly I was standing on the slopes in Tignes. Yes, once I was there doing après-ski, I also didn’t think about a newsletter for a single moment. Luckily I’ve heard from many sources that the NSWK was a huge success—thanks Avalon!

Was that everything? Of course not! The ONKS, naturally. Once again plenty of students crossing the country, all heading towards UUUU. And once again I get on the wrong bus—how does that even happen. This time I ended up in Essen. Trust me, not exactly the place to be. Luckily I was able to enjoy all the great stories about the ONKS and the party. Zinkstuk, thank you!

And well, that brings us here, to today. I’m sitting here studying—or at least I was trying to. Might as well procrastinate a bit and write this. What a couple of months we’ve had. Being on the board really is quite a nice life actually. Which brings us nicely to the next point:

Because being on the board is so epically fun, we can very well imagine that you might want to do it for another year. Good news! You can! Stichting NSZ is looking for 5 new stars who want to take over the responsibility. Curious about what you’d actually have to do? Or would you like to chat with one of the current board members sometime? Don’t hesitate to send an email—or a message works just as well of course!

Alright, enough shameless promotion. Or… maybe not yet. One more important promo. On Saturday March 28 we’ll have the HAAV in Utrecht starting at 14:00. You’ll receive a convocation with the exact information and details.

Okay, now we’re done? Noooo of course not. This one’s fun. Our CoBo!!! We’ve come up with a fantastic plan: Friday May 29, hopefully in the sun—first a BBQ, then CoBo, in Delft ???? An official invitation will follow, but for now this is the Save the Date. We hope everyone will come.

Now we’re almost done ???? Just a few fun rankings for you:

NSZK: 1. Golfbreker, 2. Hydrofiel, 3. Nayade, 4. WAVE, 5. Tiburon, 6. SPONS, 7. Zinkstuk, 8. Aquifer, 9. Aquamania, 10. Avalon, 11. Ragnar, 12. Piranha

NSWK: seasonal winner advanced: Walvisch, seasonal winner beginners: WAVE.

If you’re still bored: send me a good meme, I always enjoy that.

Cheers,

Paris Secretaris
