Newsletter #1: October 2024

The month of October marked the beginning of the 2024-2025 season for Stichting NSZ. First, we look back at the first boards day, held on October 6. All newly elected sister boards were invited to Utrecht to witness the discharging of the 29th Board and the instalment of the 30th Board. After the AAV-General and AAV-Transition were wrapped up in about 50 minutes, we were officially installed as the 30th Board of Stichting NSZ. Pien, Femke, Charlotte, Maartje, and Max, thank you so much for your effort and dedication of last season—we hope to see you at many NSZKs or NSWKs in the future! After the meeting, we spent the rest of the afternoon socializing at Olympos and getting to know the other boards better. Our first impression? Everyone is incredibly kind—so kind, in fact, that we were gifted a 3-liter pitcher. The day ended with pizza at Mr. Jack’s, a true legend who opened his restaurant just for us.

The rest of the month was primarily focused on settling into our new board roles. We were busy managing tasks like the Instagram page, making initial contact with KNZB and SSN, and brainstorming ideas for the lustrum year. Beyond the serious matters, there was also room for some fun. For example, we congratulated the boards of Wave and Hydrofiel at their constitution drinks.

Finally, a major event this month was NSZK I. On the evening of Friday, October 25, we were welcomed at the pre-party venue with a delicious barbecue for all boards. The atmosphere became even livelier when members joined the event—after all, the more, the merrier! We didn’t stay too late, though, as the next day was all about swimming. On Saturday afternoon, the pool in Tilburg opened its doors to 444 swimmers eager to dive off the starting blocks. After a smoothly run competition, it was time to refuel with some fries—swimming that hard takes a lot of energy! And of course, no NSZK is complete without a party. With the theme “Tilburg Thriller,” everyone danced the night away in spooky style. The results were announced during the festivities, but unfortunately, a counting error meant the initial results weren’t accurate. Our apologies to the associations affected by this mistake! The correct results are now published on the website. Ultimately, congratulations are in order for De Golfbreker on their round win. A big thank you to Avalon for organizing this unforgettable season opener!

Greetings,
